“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be.” This is a Lao Tzu quote from the Tao Te Ching, and in my journey as a photographer, I’ve found it to be true to my experience. Although I work as a professional photographer, I do not study photography. I am instead, a perpetual student of life. My photography is a journey in passion. I love to travel. I love to study the arts; drawing, painting, and sculpture. I am passionate about people, light, and nature. I am a part of the cosmos and feel an enormous responsibility to move about the earth gently so as not to disturb any living creation. I feel compelled to share that which I perceive as beauty. Perhaps the central question before me at all times is “how can I capture an image in such a way that it will allow you to be a part of the experience with me?” Perhaps the answer to that question is in fact the journey itself. For now I know that when I can quiet my mind, the world seems to surrender and images come to me.
